The George Hewitt Myers Award

The George Hewitt Myers Award honors lifetime achievements and exceptional contributions in the field of textile arts. The award, named for The Textile Museum’s founder and given by The Textile Museum’s Board of Trustees, is recognized as the highest international accolade in the field of textile arts.

The 2025 honorees of the George Hewitt Myers Award are Romain Zaleski and Moshe Tabibnia, and you are invited to join us online for a special program awarding them with this top honor. The philanthropist and publisher, both collectors, will be recognized for their contributions in making world-class textile collections available to the public.


About Romain Zaleski, Philanthropist and Collector


Romain Zaleski is a collector of carpets, textiles and tapestries with a 50-year history of passionate collecting. His collection of 1,330 carpets dating from the 15th to the 19th centuries are now with the Fondazione Tassara, a foundation established by Zaleski for culture, education and training. The newly opened MITA Cultural Center in Brescia, Italy, houses these carpets, including significant classical carpets, that now will be available for exhibition and scholarly study.


About Moshe Tabibnia, Collector and Publisher


The Moshe Tabibnia Collection includes private ownership of some of the world’s most significant carpets and textiles. The Moshe Tabibnia Gallery and Research Center on via Brera in Milan, Italy, includes wide-ranging carpets and textiles from around the world. Tabibnia has published numerous books, including the 2006 landmark publication Milestones in the History of Carpets.
