Rare Irish George II Carved Mahogany Side Table circa 1760 with finely grained single board mahogany top, resting on a boldly carved stand with leaf, scroll, and rocaille ornament in deep relief on a stippled and diapered ground, skirt centering a carved winged mask of Venus issuing from a shell, deeply carved cabriole legs resting on scroll feet, 30-1/2 x 59 x 31 in.Exhibited: Ireland: Crossroads of Art and Design, 1690-1840, Art Institute of Chicago, 2015, illustrated in the accompanying catalog, pg. 135, catalog no. 238.This table is also illustrated in The Knight of Glin and James Peill, Irish Furniture, Yale University Press, 2007, catalog 85, pg. 226. - Provenance: V.
