Meet Emma Jane Halford
Born in Cambridge, England, in 1971, Halford developed an early passion for art, leading her to study textile design.
Her career in the fashion and décor industries shaped her understanding of the relationship between the body and space. Having explored painting and illustration, she discovered clay sculpting as a powerful medium for emotional expression.
Her practice investigates the interplay between materiality, the body and space, exploring how objects, clothing and sculptures influence the atmosphere of an environment and the way individuals perceive themselves.
Alongside her artistic practice, Halford has spent 14 years investing in The Secret Room, a luxury fashion and lifestyle boutique. Her work has been exhibited at SculptX (2022), Melrose Arch Gallery (2022), Candice Berman Gallery (2023) and the Clarens Art Festival (2021).
